Sometimes dieting can only do so much with weight loss. I think signing up for gym membership is a good idea! Working out 5 to 6 times a week has done wonders for me!

I can totally relate to your weight loss problem. Every time I tell myself "no more excuses" and I always come up with some. I have to find my motivation. I think I have but it is such a struggle.

Mmm, my favourite Japanese restaurant always gives us an appetizer of chicken congee and it's delicious. I'm going to have to try this out!

Filipinos call that dish "Arroz Caldo." My mom prepares that dish nearly the same way you've prepared it. It's delicious! It's too bad I can't eat it because I need to stay away from rice for awhile. -sigh-

Sorry about the spoon! :( From my experiences using shared university kitchen, a lot of kids don't really put the concept of personal space into high regard; hence, stuff gets stolen a lot. Hope you can find it or get a replacement soon!

This is the first time my stuff has gone missing though. Now that another kitchen mate has mentioned it, there is a guy in my kitchen with similar cutlery so I'll ask him later if he's seen my spoon :\ But nice revenge tough for us it's like, anything on the table is for everyone :P

You should post some recipes for Asian food! I always want to make it but feel so uninspired unless I buy a prepackaged meal. :P

Tip: don't take anything to university and leave it in common rooms unless you want it to get broken, stolen or used without your permission. I had various glasses broken and plates stolen by other people who had literally just rummaged through my cupboard. I took to keeping my cutlery and crockery only in my room, and washing it in the sink in there too.

I also once stole a box of After Eight mints from the dorm kitchen before, because I felt angry about not being invited to the dorm Christmas party (seriously) so I was like, "Fuck you dickwads, I'm taking your chocolates." :P

I need to follow some of these! Some I do already and some I do for a few days and then end up failing miserably. I ended up signing up on http://mint.com to keep track of how much I spend and on what, and you can also set up budgets for yourself (they also have an app which I love using on my iPhone). I have found it helpful with budgeting myself more, although some days I do ignore it :P

Otherwise, I try to buy as much food as I can from work since I get a discount (such as necessities like toothpaste to foods like fruit juices, pasta, etc) and try to prepare food verse going out to eat. I also freeze what I don't use (especially with raw meats). I keep getting coupons but fail at using them, which I am trying to get better at. I choose quality over quantity with some things as well (especially meats, veggies, and produce) I'd rather pay a few cents more and know I am getting a better/tastier product than buy from the cheaper stores and generally in the end the food lasts longer so I do end up saving some money.
